oxbow 2005
In the name of expanding my horizons, I
signed up for a week-long painting
workshop for adults at the Oxbow School in
Napa, an one-semester art school for high
school juniors and seniors (a kind of
study-abroad program).

Surrounded by what turned out to be mostly
female art teachers, I came away with a
new appreciation for painting, painters, and
artists in general.  Being an artist, whether
professionally or not, necessitates a huge
commitment of money and time!  The
patience needed to complete a single work
astounds me.  In another lifetime, maybe.

This was theraputic, eye-opening,
wonderful, inspiring, and full of good food
(our cooks came from Chez Panisse, a
highly-lauded restaurant in Berkeley).  It
was almost absurd how good the overall
experience was!

Sign me up for next year!
